Narra la historia de Christopher McCandless, un joven de 23 años que tras graduarse de la universidad y cansado de todas las comodidades y convenciones sociales, deja todo lo que conoce atrás para embarcarse en una aventura: Alaska. 

Es una película que en lo personal me hizo reflexionar mucho y replantear el propósito de mi existencia. Me hizo reconsiderar muchas cosas, cosas que normalmente decidimos ignorar o dejar pasar de largo por mera comodidad ya que bien dicen; ignorance is a bliss. Realmente es importante detenerte de vez en cuando y preguntarte; ¿Soy feliz con lo que estoy haciendo? ¿Con el camino que está tomando mi vida? Y si no..

¿Por qué dejarnos llevar por prejuicios y críticas ajenas? ¿Por qué no sólo cerrar los ojos y seguir tus sueños?

Sin preocuparse de lo que los demás digan o piensen, hay tantas cosas, lugares y secretos que explorar en esta vida y dejarnos perder todas estas aventuras por lo que alguien más pueda decir me parece una tontería. He puesto muchas cosas en perspectiva y quién sabe, a lo mejor siga el ejemplo de Chris.

Se las recomiendo muchísimo, de verdad no pierdan la oportunidad de ver esta película o en todo caso leer el libro. No se van a arrepentir.

Needing/Getting

So I've been sitting around, wasting my time, wondering what you've been doing. Aw, and it ain't real forgiving, it ain't real forgiving sitting here picturing someone else living. And I, yeah I still need you, but what good's that gonna do? Needing is one thing, and getting, getting's another.

"when people ask me if a god created the universe, I tell them that the question itself makes no sense. Time didn't exist before the big bang so there is no time for god to make the universe in. It's like asking for directions to the edge of the earth, the earth is a sphere, it doesn't have an edge, so looking for it is a futile exercise. We are each free to believe what we want and it's my view that the simplest explanation is, there is no god. No one created the universe and no one directs our fate. This leads me to a profound realization, there is probably no heaven and no afterlife. We have this one life to appreciate the grand design of the universe and for that I'm extremely grateful."
